MVAS and what they do

You will have noticed a number of Motor Vehicle Activated Signs around Hughenden Parish.  They move from time to time but generally at least 6 will be out.  These units are puchased and owned by HPC but are deployed and managed by a small and active team of local volunteers. We couldn’t do it without them.

MVAS units collect information about the number of vehicle movements over a period and registers the number of vehicles exceeding the speed limits.  This information is forwarded to Thames Valley Police who use the information to determine where their speed monitoring devices will be deployed.

The feedback MVAS units provide to our Road Safety working group indicate how often and by how much vehicles are speeding and is used when we work with Transport for Bucks in considering how we can make our roads safer.
